Who we are
CityVision TV is a community digital broadcaster for the Nepali community in Australia, based in Mansfield, Queensland. We make news, documentaries, talk shows and podcasts, and share them on this website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Spotify. When this page says "we" or "us", it means CityVision TV.
We try to follow the Australian Privacy Principles in everything we do with personal information.
What we collect
We keep it to the minimum.
If you appear in our content, our release form asks for your name, which project you're part of and your consent answers. That's it. We don't ask for your email, phone number, address or date of birth. If you're under 18, we also ask for your parent or guardian's name and their consent. We also keep the photos, video and audio we record of you.
If you contact us or subscribe, we get your name and email, plus your phone number if you choose to give it.
The services that run our website and forms may also log basic technical details like your browser, device or IP address.
We don't usually ask about sensitive things like your health or religion. If a story naturally goes there, we'll talk it through with you before we record.
How we use it
We use your information to plan and make our content, keep a record of your consent, publish and promote stories within what you agreed to, reply to your messages and send updates if you've subscribed. We also keep records in case questions come up later.
Our release form asks a separate question about paid advertising and sponsored content. If you said no, we won't use your content that way.
Who we share it with
Sometimes we work with partners, other broadcasters or clients on a project. When that happens, we only share what the project needs and only within the permissions you gave us. We may also share information with advisers or authorities if the law requires it.
Once something is published, anyone can see it, and people can share or re-post it. We can't control every copy after that point.
The tools we use
Like most small media teams, we rely on a few online services. Some of them store information outside Australia.
| Service | What for | Where data may be stored |
|---|---|---|
| Tally | Release forms (names and consent answers only) | European Union (Belgium) |
| Gmail, and Google Drive for footage | United States and other countries | |
| Web3Forms | Our contact and newsletter forms | Overseas, outside Australia |
| GitHub Pages | Hosting this website | United States |
| Social platforms | YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Spotify, where we publish | United States and other countries |
Each of these has its own privacy terms. If we start using a new service for personal information, we'll add it here.
Keeping it safe
Collecting less is the best protection, so our release form doesn't ask for contact details at all. Releases stay in our Tally account rather than being copied around, only the people who need them can see them, and our accounts use two-step sign-in where it's available. No system is perfect, so if you think something you sent us has been exposed, please tell us straight away.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it. Signed releases stay on file for as long as the content they cover is still out there, plus a reasonable time after that in case questions come up. After that we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
Your choices
You can email us to see the information we hold about you, fix anything that's wrong, or ask us to stop using your content from now on. We'll take every request seriously and get back to you within a reasonable time. If we can't do something, we'll explain why.
One honest limit: we can't pull back something that has already gone to air, been printed, become part of a finished episode or been shared by other people. Requests apply to future use.
Children and young people
We never record or publish anyone under 18 without consent from their parent or guardian. We also take extra care with how young people are shown and what we say about them.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, email cityvisiontvbroadcast@gmail.com. Tell us what happened and what you'd like us to do, and we'll work it out with you. If you're still not satisfied, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this page
We'll update this page if the way we handle information changes. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
